The children of Hillesley won their Award with a performance of a play – Eddie the Penguin. It tells the story of Eddie, who notices that the ice is melting at the South Pole. He and his family travel to the North Pole to find that the ice is melting there too. There they meet some polar bears and together they meet with humans to persuade them to act against climate change, saving their polar homes for the future.
YPTE Director, Peter Littlewood, says: “This performance was fabulous. The children really enjoyed it and so did the audience. The children managed to deliver the play’s message of care for our planet really well, entertaining and informing at the same time. It was exactly the kind of thing we look for in the Totally Creative category.”
